What is insulin and insulin resistance?

Insulin is a protein hormone secreted by the beta cells of the pancreas. This is a kind of policeman who strictly monitors the level of glucose in the blood and, when it rises, includes various mechanisms and methods of returning to the initial point – that is, to physiological, optimal values for the functioning of organs.

So, the task of this hormone is to drive the disobedient glucose into the cell.

All actions of insulin, as well as most biologically active substances, are based on the interaction between it and cell receptors.

Insulin resistance is the name given to when cells of the body don’t respond properly to the hormone insulin. Insulin resistance is the driving factor that leads to type 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes and prediabetes. Insulin resistance is closely associated with obesity; however, it is possible to be insulin resistant without being overweight or obese.

Nutrition for insulin resistance.

Reducing insulin resistance can be achieved by following low-carbohydrate and ketogenic  diets:

  1. It is necessary to switch to a 3-time diet. The exceptions are patients with adrenal insufficiency, gastrointestinal diseases in the acute stage and professional athletes – they are just shown snacks with fractional meals.
  2. A high-fat, moderate-protein, and low-carbohydrate diet, with a low glycemic index being the basis of the diet.

GLYCEMIC INDEX is an indicator that reflects how much the concentration of glucose in the blood will change after consuming a particular product.

Products based on Jerusalem artichoke (syrup and powder), as well as urbechi, a natural spread made from raw nuts or seeds, ground to a thick mass, do an excellent job with these difficult tasks.

Jerusalem artichoke: composition and characteristics

The active ingredient of topinambur is inulin. It does not strain the pancreas, does not cause a sharp jump in insulin, has a positive effect on the intestines – it feeds its microflora.

Regular consumption of inulin in food provides the following health effects on the body:

– creates optimal conditions for the growth and development of normal intestinal microflora and prevents dysbiosis, increases resistance to bacterial and viral infections of the digestive system, and also to the introduction of various parasites;

– eliminates insulin resistance;

– regulates carbohydrate metabolism;

– normalizes fat metabolism;

– normalizes blood sugar;

– promotes energy;

– normalizes metabolism;

– has a complex effect on functional activity liver.

Of all natural sources of inulin, Jerusalem artichoke (Helianthus tuberosus L) is considered to be the most promising. Jerusalem artichoke root contains vitamins B1, B2, B6, C, PP, as well as calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, which are actively involved in health promotion. The fiber in Jerusalem artichoke improves digestion and reduces the amount of cholesterol absorbed by the body. But the antioxidants in the plant are indispensable for those who regularly spend a lot of time in the sun or work in an area where radiation exposure is possible. Antioxidants cleanse the body of harmful substances, and also protect against negative external influences.

Jerusalem artichoke syrup and powder doesn’t just replace sugar. It contains prebiotics. Taking it daily, you can forget about stomach problems. Many people note that when switching to Jerusalem artichoke, the complexion improves and skin rashes disappear.

Jerusalem artichoke syrup or Jerusalem artichoke powder is especially useful in the diet for diabetes. Inulin in the composition significantly reduces blood sugar levels. With hypertension, Jerusalem artichoke can quickly reduce blood pressure and feel better. However, you should not excessively consume such products because they suffer from low blood pressure.

Urbech: composition and characteristics

The benefit of the product lies in its saturation with valuable elements. The energy complex of the paste allows you to feel a surge of strength during the day, carotene improves vision, fiber helps to normalize digestion. In addition, urbech is an excellent antioxidant that allows the body to get rid of harmful substances. The only contraindication to the use of the urbech is the individual intolerance of the components from which it is prepared.

The beneficial effect on the body of different types of natural urbech is as follows:

  • strengthening of immunity, tooth enamel and heart muscle (from hazelnut);
  • excretion of bile, help with urolithiasis, improving men’s health (from almonds);
